Mrs Anita M Lewis
Town Councillor & Central Bedfordshire Councillor

We found Sun house 23 years ago and instantly fell in love with it and the little gem that is the town of Potton. It is so rare to find such a community as that of Potton still surviving in the hustle and bustle of the twenty first century.
I came from a career in Education which included teacher, college lecturer and inspector of schools .
I have been a member of the Town Council for 13 years at the same time as I became a District Councillor for Potton at MBDC. One of my main interests is in the young people of the Town.I have been a Governor at Burgoyne Middle School for almost two decades. I am currently Chair of the Governing Body.I sit on the Bedfordshire Schools' Forum representing the Middle School Governors. I also sit on the transitional task force for Chlidren, Families and Learning for the new Unitary Central Bedfordshire.
I take a pride in the historical heritage of our Town with our many listed buildings and conservation areas .Living in the oldest dwelling to survive the great fire of Potton in 1783, I feel a responsibility to preserve and record the history of our Town for the generations yet to come . I have been the Treasurer ot Potton history Society for the past 18years . Living near the Market Square I have been an enthusiastic member of the town Centre Enhancement Group .
The role of the Town Council is destined to be evermore important once the new Unitary Authority is established in April 2009.I am determined to play a full part in representing the people of Potton in this new era .
