UK Power Networks – tree cutting under the 11kv network at Pegnut Wood

UK Power Networks is the electricity distributor for our area and, as part of their work to keep power supplies safe and reliable, they are due to carry out tree trimming in Pegnut Wood from Monday 19th August through to Friday 6th September 2024.

This will include removing dead, diseased and dying trees as well as vegetation which can come into contact with the overhead power lines. This work is essential to avoid power cuts in our community.

UKPN’s fully qualified contractors work to government regulations, including environmental laws, and are particularly aware of wildlife in the area. Risk and environmental assessments are carried out as part of their work.

The wood will remain open, but signage and contractors will warn of any areas for pedestrians to avoid for safety reasons.

Customers whose power will be affected for around 15 minutes during the first week of September will be notified in advance, with the date and time of the short interruption. This will allow the connection/disconnection of generators to supply the community with power, while their teams work safely around the overhead power lines.

If you have an issue with your power, there are many ways to get in touch including freephone 105 and @UKPowerNetworks.
